Mr. William "Bill" Mahoney, 66, of Broadview Terrace, passed away peacefully at home, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Born in Pittsfield on April 2, 1949 the son of James P. and Mary A. Mahoney, he was a 1967 graduate of St. Joseph High School. Mr. Mahoney was a Viet Nam Veteran serving in the US Army. He was stationed in a MASH unit during the war. After his military service, Bill worked for General Electric, both in Pittsfield and Schenectady, NY. He retired in 2008. He was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. Bill enjoyed cooking and developed a passion for gardening with his wife, Sherry. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time with family. He is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, the former Sherry Race; a son, Travis Paul Mahoney; a daughter, Katharine M. Mahoney and a granddaughter, Sophia Marie Denise Mahoney. He leaves four step-children, Samantha Barnes, Jennifer Sulock, Scott Sulock and Steven Sulock; four sisters, May Dondey, Margaret Bush, Patricia Coulter and Palmela Parsons; two brothers, Barton Mahoney and Michael Mahoney. Bill also leaves 9 nieces and nephews and several God Children. Besides his parents, Bill is predeceased by a brother, James P. Mahoney who died on October 12, 1953.
