RIP

Mr. Joel D. Bodnar, 56, of Pittsfield, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 9, 2016. Born in Van Wert, OH on January 20, 1960 the son of John and Jane Maxton Bodnar, he moved to Voorheesville NY at a young age and graduated from Christian Brothers Academy in Albany, NY. Joel went on to graduate from the Virginia Military Institute. He was a US Army Veteran and was stationed in Korea. Joel was currently employed as a Manager at Wal-Mart in North Adams. He had worked for Wal-Mart for 13 years, 11 of which had been spent at the Pittsfield store. He enjoyed history and watching football. He was an avid Detroit Lions fan. Joel leaves his wife, Barbara, whom he married on October 18, 1998 in Pittsfield. He is also survived by his children, Joanna K. Bodnar of North Adams, Amy E. Bodnar of Maui, HI, Jessica A. Bodnar of Pittsfield and his stepson, Frank Smith Jr. of Buffalo, NY; 5 siblings, John Bodnar Jr. of NY, Judith Bodnar of NY, Jeri Honikle of FL, Jan Peter of NY and Jim Bodnar of NY; 6 step-grandchildren, Joshua, Noah, Aida, Lilly, Evan and Myles. He also leaves his close friend Natalie Lynch and many nieces and nephews.
